The Food & Drink Reactivity Test combines IgE Allergy Testing and IgG Intolerance Testing to provide a comprehensive understanding of your body’s response to different foods and drinks.

Why test for both allergies and intolerances?

  • IgE Allergy Testing detects immediate immune responses to specific foods, which can result in symptoms like rashes, swelling, difficulty breathing, or digestive issues. These reactions typically occur within minutes or hours of consumption and may require medical attention.

  • IgG Intolerance Testing identifies delayed immune responses to foods, which can take hours or even days to appear. Intolerances are often associated with chronic or recurring symptoms such as bloating, headaches, fatigue, or joint pain.

By testing for both, this dual analysis provides a complete picture of your food reactivity, helping you identify not just severe allergies but also subtler intolerances that may impact your day-to-day well-being.

Common symptoms that may overlap

  • Digestive Issues: Bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, or stomach cramps.
  • Skin Reactions: Rashes, eczema, or hives.
  • Fatigue: Persistent tiredness or lack of energy.
  • Respiratory Problems: Sneezing, nasal congestion, or shortness of breath.
  • Headaches or Migraines: Recurring or unexplained.
  • Joint or Muscle Pain: Chronic aches without an obvious cause.

This mix of allergy and intolerance testing empowers you with knowledge about what your body thrives on and what it struggles with, helping you achieve optimal health.

What's tested

We analyse both 60 IgE Allergy items and 60 IgG Intolerance levels for 120 allergens using a blood sample from a finger prick.

In the Allergy Analysis section, the amount of allergen-specific IgE antibodies is quantitatively measured in IU/mL to assess your immune response to various food allergens. The results are then categorised using a clear, colour-coded system to indicate the severity of the reaction, ranging from Class 0 (No Reactivity) to Class 6 (Severe Reactivity).

This analysis helps you understand the severity of your allergic reactions and take appropriate action, whether that’s simply reducing exposure or seeking medical advice.

In the Intolerance Analysis section, the amount of allergen-specific IgG antibodies is semi-quantitatively measured in U/mL to assess your immune response to different foods. The results are categorized using a clear, color-coded system, which indicates the severity of the reaction, ranging from Class 0 (No Reactivity) to Class 3 (High Reactivity).

This analysis helps identify foods that may contribute to delayed or chronic symptoms, allowing you to take control by reducing or eliminating high-reactivity items from your diet. Each category rating reflects the highest-rated item within that group, helping you prioritise areas that may require further investigation.
